Your first visit
Ninety minutes, start to finish. Here's what to bring, and what we do in what order.

What to bring
- A photo ID.
- Your insurance card, if you have one. Maya checks your benefits before you come.
- The list of medications and supplements you take, with doses.
- Your last dentist's name. We ask them for X-rays from the past year, so you may not need new ones.
- For a patient under 18, a parent or legal guardian at the first visit.
After you book, we email you our patient forms. They take about ten minutes on a phone. If you'd rather fill them out on paper, come ten minutes early.
Before your first filling
California law requires dentists to give new patients the Dental Board of California's Dental Materials Fact Sheet before any filling, and to keep a signed acknowledgment in the patient's record. We hand it to you at your first visit and answer your questions about it.

Bringing your kids
- First visit by the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth.
- Under 4, the exam happens on your lap, knee to knee with the dentist.
- Book the whole family back to back on the same morning.
- A parent or guardian stays in the room for kids under 12, and is always welcome after that.
Nervous about the dentist?
- Tell Maya when you book. We plan a longer visit so nobody rushes you.
- Noise-canceling headphones and a ceiling TV in every room.
- Raise your left hand and we stop, every time.
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available for $75.
- Your dentist explains each step before doing it.
